Finished Spinning!!!!!

I bought 8 oz of dyed Romney Locks in May 2009 at MDSW. It was among the first fiber I bought. This summer I pulled it out. I just finished spinning it on my Lendrum with my normal semi-worsted crab style of spinning. I’m going to have to get serious about spinning and processing fiber to spin. I tried carding this on my carder and was really not happy with the way the batts turned out. Combing it and spinning from the locks would have probably been a better way to go. I also could have spun it as a true woolen to make it “fluffier”. It’s a very smooth yarn but it’s firmer than I would have liked it to be. It’s about 680 yards of DK/Sport weight. I haven’t washed it yet, so hopefully it will soften up some. In its present condition, it’s definitely not next to the skin wearable, so maybe a shawl. Overall, I'm pleased with it, even though it's not quite what I was aiming for.

My life had quieted down a bit. I have to admit that I overextended myself this summer and was looking forward to a nice, relaxing fall. Alas, it's not to be. My youngest sister will have hip replacement surgery in early November and her convalescence will be approximately 5 weeks. What does it say about me, that I immediately started planning what knitting and crocheting I'd take with me? Did I mention I'll be staying with her for most of that time???

After all these years of spinning, I've started to question what it I'm spinning and what i'm spinning it for. I don't need another sweater. I'm back to the drum carder too.

LOL! You mean there are people who think of something OTHER than knitting???? That's pretty much my first thought at all times. :)

ETA: Bummer. It seems I might actually be a robot today...
